We are seeking an exceptional investment associate to join the Ryan Sports Ventures (“RSV”) management team composed of leading sports executives and investment professionals. This position will provide direct experience in the business of sports investing while also having the opportunity to work with some of the best founders and sports operators in the industry.

The Investment Associate role will focus on supporting RSV’s investment activities in the sports industry. She/he will work closely with and as an integral part of our small and collaborative team of professionals.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all aspects of due diligence for private sport and sports technology investment opportunities (business analysis, industry thesis, competitive landscape, business/pricing model, financial modeling/deal structuring, investment committee memos)
  • Researching and building relationships with sports ownership and sports technology stakeholders to assist in the generation of future investment opportunities for RSV
  • Assessing market/company attractiveness to help identify and build an investment case around compelling businesses
  • Working in a strategic capacity to assist existing RSV investments with their operations and execution as needed
  • Preparing market analyses and presentations to drive investment decisions and to prioritize engagement with the firm’s extensive network
  • Contributing to and often leading weekly internal meetings in which new investments and portfolio companies are discussed

Qualifications

Candidates should have up to 3 years of total prior work experience including ideally a minimum of one year of full-time work experience at a top-tier investment bank, venture capital fund, or strategy consulting firm as well as meet the following criteria:

  • Must be comfortable with and want to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment
  • Able to create, analyze, and format complex financial information effectively ● High academic performance in core finance coursework (finance, economics, accounting, etc.)
  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Highly skilled with MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word for presentation purposes
  • Must have great attitude, excellent communication and people skills, integrity, and high work ethic
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong interest in all aspects of the global sports industry
  • Prior experience in the sports industry – either directly as an employee or through transactions/consulting is highly preferred, but not mandatory
