Our client is a top-tier professional sports organization seeking a strategic seller to join their leadership team as VP of Global Partnership Sales. Position Overview:

This Senior Accountant will wear multiple hats and is responsible for putting together financial statements, reporting packages, managing general ledgers, providing audit support and more. There is great upward mobility depending on one’s success. Lots of CFO’s across the league started as Senior Accountants. Will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer, Senior Accounting Manager, and the entire accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • General Ledger Management: Coordinate and maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation and analysis of budgets and financial forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
  • Audit Support: Coordinate and assist with NBA BRI and CFS audits, providing necessary information and documentation.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and effectiveness in financial operations.
  • Collaboration: Partner with different departments to offer financial insights and support for central initiatives.

Skills & Experience You Will Bring:

  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in accounting or finance, with a strong background in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Certification: CPA or equivalent certification is a plus, but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and collaborators.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues, determine root causes, and successfully implement solutions.

  • Greater Chicago Region
  • This role primarily takes place in an office setting
